Continuing to Minister to Hurricane-Hit Islanders

Samaritan’s Purse continues to provide aid in the Caribbean in the wake of Hurricane Beryl.

Now over a month after Hurricane Beryl tore through the southern Caribbean as a Category 4 and 5 storm, a Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Assistance Response Team is still in the region providing much-needed aid. We are working together with local churches, many of which had partnered with Operation Christmas Child in the past, to provide communities with relief supplies and share the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

On July 1, Beryl decimated outlying islands near Grenada, Jamaica, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, leaving communities without access to water, shelter, or medical care. Samaritan’s Purse worked quickly to address all three of these needs.

On multiple airlifts of our DC-8, we provided water filtration and desalinisation units, rolls of tarp for damaged roofs, supplies and staff for an Emergency Field Hospital on Carriacou, and other aid for hurting islanders. In addition to providing these initial cargo flights, our aviation team was a critical part of delivering relief to difficult-to-access locations within the region.

Watch the overview video above for the full scope of our response.

Please pray for our teams as they continue to provide help in the Caribbean in Jesus’ Name. Pray also for the families who are still recovering from the storm. Ask that these islanders would know that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
